Range Problem
« on: July 28, 2015, 06:30:57 PM »
Hi

I have today developed a problem with my Radarbox. I do not have the range that I had up to today.

I can still get about 60 miles to the west but virtually nothing to the east.

Can someone advise if this is the box or the aerial.

Regards

Keith

What did you get to the east before?  Is it an external antenna and are all your joints secure and clear of dampness

Moisture was my #1 problem many years ago until I properly sealed my co-ax and connectors.  Makes the world of difference, especially at 1090Mhz...

Hi Alan

It was never as good to the east because of trees but I was getting 40 miles plus.

It is an outside aerial and we have had a lot of rain over the past few days.

That's the reason I was asking Keith, lots of rain up here to and I would look to water ingress in your cable
