AirNav software connects to RTL dongle not the RadarBox
« on: January 08, 2015, 02:07:44 PM »
For some reason the software has started to connect to my RTL dongle rather than my radio box.  Obviously it works if I disable the device in windows management but I really shouldn't have to fiddle around doing so.

When I open the software it says "RB1 found" (My actual RadarBox) and "MicroRB found" but decides to connect to the "MicroRB".  How can I change the settings in the software so that it connects to the correct box?

Can we presume that both have been working away independently previously but now for some reason you have started to have this problem?

Could I suggest that you start up Radarbox and once it is up and running insert your dongle and then start it up and see what happens.

Hi Alan,

Yes both have been working fine for their purposes without causing issues with each other.  Today the AirNav software just wants to connect to the RTL dongle.

I can unplug the RTL dongle but it's just annoying to do this each time as i'm lazy (And means moving the PC to get at the rear of it).  If I disable the device i've to restart the computer which is another annoyance.

I thought the software would give you an option of ensuring it connects to the right device but I can't see any.

I've contacted Support to see if they can assist with anything.

I have no ideas.

Does it do anything with the dongle input?

Maybe the deactivation of the dongle by using the hardware manager could avoid the pc moving procedure.

Had this same problem once. I always start the dongle and Planeplotter First, then start Airnav. No problem.
Starting Airnav first, it will see both RB1 and the dongle.

Lenow, are you aware that you can send your Airnav returns to PP and vice versa as well.

Also do Not wish to send data from Airnav to PP.
Prefer to keep them separate.

Here I use the dongle to feed PP as it receives more acft and at a greater distance, than RB1.
PP also shows Mlat acft.

Used Airnav suite4 receiving ACARS., for a number of years until the computer died. Still have the HDD and will maybe set up another desktop.

Tks for the replies.

Same problem here...

I'm using a RTL dongle for Radio, and if the RTL is connected to the PC, the Airnav software wont use the Radarbox but the RTL dongle....bad ! Anyway to choose the source ?

I have that problem since the 5.00.072 update

I don't think that there is a final fix solution available at the moment.

You can unplug the dongle, start ANRB SW and after it is running re- plug the dongle.
Alternatively deactivate the dongle in the device manager start ANRB SW and after it is running reactivate the dongle in the device manager.

Same thing happen to me.  I used to have only RB but later a RTL dongle was added to the system for ACARS.   The system was set to reload RB automatically when the machine reboot.   Now it grabs the dongle as Mini RB and reading data from it.

Does the ANRB software still connect to the dongle if it is already occupied by another software?
