« on: October 30, 2012, 01:05:55 PM »
I was hoping to see that their would be loads of info on how to get anrb working with windows 8 pro 64bit.

I did a clean install but the windows 7 64bit driver wont work with windows 8

Will a new driver be released that will work with windows 8 or do I have to go back to windows 7 for the time being?
I have copied attachment with the error I am getting

Kind regards

Hi puddy,

The none 64bit drivers should work fine on Windows 8. However Windows 8 64bit are a bit fussy and we will look into the getting them resigned for Windows 8.

In the meanwhile users have managed to get it to work using the below tips:

1.From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
2.Click ‘Change PC Settings’.
3.Click ‘General’.
4.Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
5.Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
6.Click ‘Advanced Options’
7.Click ‘Startup Settings’
8.Click Restart.
9.When Win8 restarts type the number next to "Disable driver signature enforcement"

It only works for me once. After I reboot in normal mode, the error comes back.

Try right clicking on the program icon and selecting to run as administrator also.

That might change the install issue, but won't fix the driver problem.

Hi AirNav

I have made a fresh install of Radarbox on Win8, and although got it working with the drivers as above, although it is very, very unstable.

After getting nowhere with my previous support ticket opened on 3D issues, Im at a loss.

Now, for example, I can view in Map mode, switch to 3D mode, and 50% of aircraft are just white stalks, or grey skins. ( I have also installed latest database as posted on forum.)
It then just crashes after 5 or 10 mins use in 3D interface. (not responding), and I can rarely switch back to Map view, without a blank grey screen.

I always run as 'administrator', and tried EVERY compatibility mode to no avail.

The only way to keep any stability is to keep in 2D mode, and not select anything.

As I have now moved to a brand new m/c , and wont be going back to my old Vista 64bit one, which also had similar 3D issues, and also very  unreliable.

I almost feel that it is time to pull the plug on this box, and its lack of support.

Can you advise on whats going on please , as not a single update has come out since I purchased the 3D upgrade after its release.

Also please can you advise on how to cancel my live network subscription.
Why pay for this, when the box is not fit for purpose ?

Would be interested to hear what if any was the explanation for you problems with the 3D as I have exactly the same issue. When I run in 3D mode, after a short while, when returning to Map View, nothing, I have to restart the program. Also, sometimes, without any sort of pattern, get no 3D aircraft, even when same aircraft, type and airline are being displayed, just the white stalk. I have this issue on my main PC running vista and also the same problem on a 3 month old laptop running Windows 8 64 bit. I have not contacted AN about this yet but anyone else with any observations/help would be apreciated.

Cheers

Paul

Hi 2E0FLO,

Well, I got a response from Airnav.    But it was not an answer.  Just a few questions.
I have replied to both emails.
The last email I replied with my 3D settings today. I will put them on here for other users to see.
Whats the point in paying for 3D upgrade, and live network when I cant see anything in 3D, and the OS appears  no longer to be supported (Win 8).  I got the drivers to work, and hoped it would work fine on my new PC .

I have included some shots of the 3D interface, and CPU workload. Its ticking along, and more than capable of running FSX at full settings. So what is it with Airnav ?

I have put in new c:\Airnav folder, and uninstalled Antivirus and still no joy.
If I do get 3D its only temporary.

I will give Airnav a decent chance, and if no joy, then I pull the plug.

Sir,

We are trying to help you through the issues you are having, lets just make it clear there are many customers on Windows 8 having no trouble with 3D at all, this is not issue with not being supported.
