Live stream - new zoom lens
« on: September 18, 2010, 07:49:18 AM »
New zoom lens on the camera now.

Arrived just in time for the remaining 5 week period of a/c on 27L due to the northern runway taxi way maintenance.

I'm pretty impressed with the results of a/c on 27L.

Looking forward to seeing a few 27R landings now.

Just seen a few 27R landings... very happy with the clarity. Less time to see the a/c but much easier to identify.

Very pleased with the results for 27L.

Note that the lens and camera is still fixed on the same view. At the moment we have landings mainly on 27L for the next few weeks due to taxi way maintenance.
Have a look on this excellent site for the runway rotation timings. 27R is the closer runway: http://www.plane-mad.com/airport-spotting-guides/united-kingdom/london-heathrow-lhr-egll.html

Sound is going to take a few weeks to figure out as microphone needs to be placed far away from the camera. Possibly need to stream it seperately to the video.

Hey bigjim

No progress on sound I'm afraid. Have been to busy moving servers. Plus it's freezing out! :-)

Wonder where I can get a waterproof microphone.
