We have never tried it but if there is any kml layer for Google Earth with a weather radar overlay then you can easily add ot RadarBox 3D. If you find a way of doing so pls share with us the results.

Hi,

what region of the world and what type of radar weather display (cloud cover, lightning, etc.?) are you interested in?

Some weather related GE kml files I use are:

Europe
- Meteox Radar: http://google.meteox.com/meteox.kmz
- Check for more at http://urri.ch/wetter/kmzdat.htm

U.S.
- GUI Weather: http://www.guiweather.com/kml/radar/radarLoader.kml
- Das Google Earth Weather Bundle: http://www.atmos.uiuc.edu/web/google_earth_contents.shtml
- NOAA - create your own kmz: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/kmzgenerator.php

World Metar
- rap.ucar.edu/~dumont/earth/metarLink.kmz

Note: some of the kml/kmz around are made for Google Earth and might contain controls which the GE plugin can't display. As such they might not work within the GE plugin. However, you can try to extract the required data sources/layers of such kmz/kml files  manually and edit/remove any unwanted entries (logos, controls, etc.) inside the xml to make them work.

Im n Chicago, IL. And just a radar that shows where precipitation is. Nothing major. So so when a storm is moving through, I can see if the aircraft are avoiding it or not. How do I instal one of these files on the Radar Box? Im not using the 3D version though. Thanks for the help!!

Try the attached kmz file which I've created from the NOAA website for the Chicago area (multiple radar images included) or use the GUI Weather radar kmz. They both should provide great coverage of your area.

Edit: Excuse me Ben, I thought you are using the 3D version. The files listed will work in the 3D version only.

Edit 2: The file is back. As mentioned, you can easily create your own kmz files on the NOAA website. However, currently all for the US only. Wish there would be some kind of these images available for germany...

Southwest125 - you can't view the KML/KMZ files in RadarBox 2D - they only show up in Google Earth or the Google Earth Plugin in RadarBox 3D.

Terre - that Chicago KMZ is superb - must try it out myself - thanks!

EDIT Terre - please bring back that file - I thought it was a great example of what can be done!

Is there any kml with a surface analysis chart for all the world (or at least part of it)? Fronts, High Pressures, etc in a KML file?
