Local flights "stuck on the ground"
« on: October 19, 2009, 10:05:29 AM »

I have noticed that since I moved to the Real Time Network and I am using 3.06 beta that my local flights are showing on the ground and then not clearing from the map or from the data interface on the right.

Is there a setting that I need to adjust for this to happen?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers
Mark

Interesting labels you have got there.  I wonder why you have 0-150 for the altitude.  I just get the altitude  and FT.

You can use the Altitude filters in Advanced to hide these aircraft.  If you set the lower level at say 200 and the upper level to 70000 then that should do the trick.

Maybe they are still transmitting ADSB while on the ground?

edit: I see in the screenshot you are on the latest v3.07 beta (not v3.06b)

The other thing to check is the network timeout field in your preferences. The default time "seems" to take forever to timeout & remove.

I've seen similar readings when I can still receive the odd plane at Sydney airport from my own local RB (not network). Interestingly they are still showing a speed as well!

Thanks for the reply Allocator.  I actually like to see the a/c on the ground.  I am also running SBS and this is only showing the a/c on the ground as they taxi to their gates and then when they reach the gate they usually disappear after 30 seconds as they should.  Doesn't seem to work as well on the ground with AirNav, but don't know why that is the case.

I have tried in both 3.06 and 3.07 and the same result.  I also don't know why I get the 0-150 label.  Any ideas anyone?

Thanks
Mark

Have you set the airport in the SmartView tab and selected 'Auto Set QNH"?

In your screen shot, none of those aircraft appear to be on the ground as they are all showing 143 Knts and a descent rate of -66 or -700.  Compare this to my real-time network pictures of Heathrow EGLL.

Yes, I have set the airport in SmartView and selected Auto Set QNH.

I agree with you.  I only have the standard issue aerial in operation with my Radarbox, so sometimes I see a/c on the ground.  I think with these aircraft I am seeing them on descent just short of the runway.  However in the data table it shows them as being on the Ground.

This seems to have "fixed itself", although still not sure why my ground aircraft show
0-150 feet.  Again, if anyone can assist, it would be much appreciated.
