Coast Outlines (UK, Europe etc)
« on: October 04, 2009, 05:11:24 PM »
I have uploaded the "COAST_HR_XXX.out" files into "Outlines" in my new 3.06 Beta folder.  It works fine but I cannot find a way to remove the original outline (which is a bit basic) and so now have one outline on top of the other.  There is a "General.out" file in "Outlines" but if I remove that file the Real Time Network reverts to the 5 minute delay version..............weird !  Does the "Out" folder - which is empty - have any function ??

Regards

Ooerr - that's an odd thing, Bill!

Anyway, to get rid of the duplicate outline, go to the Map menu, choose General Signs, and uncheck Country Boundaries.

I think the Out folder is used for temporary files if you are sharing network data.

General.out the file does not work on my RB, it is necessary to change the name or do anything else for him to "work" 100%?

Thanks

It can be downloaded from http://radarbox.gofreeserve.com, there are various files on offer but one will have the coastline files you want, they have HR for high resolution in the names.

Extract them to the Outlines sub-folder of your RB installation, you will need to re-start RB to see them, then you will probably be happier if you turn off country boundaries in the map settings to avoid seeing the detailed outlines overlaid with the default ones.

Having looked in the radarbox utilities I cannot see any coast outlines only airports. Am I looking in the right place?

Ah, sorry. You can find the ones I mentioned linked from the Kinetic forum. I don't have a link to hand.

Coastlines are available on SBS-Resources, in the C:\SBS-resources\Files\CL folder.

See http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=2897 for instructions on using SBS-Resources.

Just one final question on this please- I now have the detailed coastline, is it normal that it is a very rough fit to the ANRB map? Is there anything I can do in settings to make it a better fit? I have attached a screenshot to illustrate...
Thanks,
Dave

That's normal.  In fact, on the standard ANRB map my house is in the sea!!

You could try different Map Projections - I use Mercator.

Thanks again!  I'm also using Mercator, the others don't really change anything.
I know what you mean regarding the standard maps,I travel to CPH frequently for work and according to the ANRB map the airport & the whole of the city are under water!
