Heathrow Radar Screenshot is back!
« on: May 27, 2009, 01:44:59 PM »
Under the usual Live Radar link right under the AirNav banner.

Approximately 100 flights on the RadarBox at 15:00.

Enjoy!

Looks great

But for me it's all double Dutch, I can't figure out how the screen works, and also not what all the data means

Is there someone or web site somewhere, who can kindly help me out?

The screenshot is not interactive like the RadarBox screen. It's simply an image sent from my RB software every minute.

I'm no RB expert and there are many experts on the main forum.

The very basics on the screenshot are that blue a/c are cruising, red a/c are taking off, green a/c are on approach/landing, white single a/c is currently selected a/c in RB software, and white circle with x in are timed-out a/c that have gone out of signal range.

To the right of the FL (flight level) details or height in feet is the climb and descent rate per minute, then speed:

Example:

FL118 +29 397kt

Currently at 11,800ft climbing at +2900 feet per minute doing 397kts ground speed.

The red circles are VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range navigation system) markers.

The jagged/comb lines are airport centre lines marked with the ICAO four character airport codes.

We also have purple a/c trail lines.

Hope that helps.

The RadarBox Manual is available on line here:

http://www.airnavsystems.com/radarbox/help/

The screen is only a picture on the HeathrowCam website, so you don't have all the functions described, but the Manual will tell you what you are looking at.

For all the functions, you need a Radarbox :-)

Many thanks Allocator.

Here's a link to the radar screenshot for anyone that needs it:

http://heathrowcam.net/liveradar.php

I've zoomed in one click in order to see more a/c details for the Heathrow traffic. Can still see the holds ok.

I plan to add the airpspace outlines soon.

Is there any chance of moving the radar up just a little so see Luton a little better just I live near there and can see traffic on approach. If not no matter just a thought, I know its mainly for Heathrow. Thx
Simon

I'm seeing little traffic at Luton at the moment but can see a/c cruising over. No RBs in the area?

It seems that the live radar screenshot has stopped at about 1216 UTC today.

good morning all, iv'e just signed up to AirNav, and every day i has the http://www.heathrowcam.net/liveradar.php on my pc screen, it's fantastic, now i know how much hard work it must be for those ATC workers and the strain on their eyes looking at that radar every minute of each day.

At the moment i have the radar up on my pc screen, but it seems to have stopped working at 07:17am this morning. Is there a problem?
