As an aside to that, why do Delta B767's not have ADSB. I would have thought that their aircraft would be equipped. Other airlines with B767s seem to be equipped or is it that the Delta crews have been instructed not to use it for some reason.
Cheers
Ian

Malc,
I would have thought that they should all be ADSB equipped. Quite often the B767's fly over without their position showing on the map as they are only transmitting Mode S and not ADSB. Most strange.

Do get a few flying over here, River Humber area, and as far as can remember they do show up on the map, but as you said I would have thought they would all have been equipped. Will look through my saved files and see what I can find

Looks like most of their 763s (well the ones logged over here) are mode-s only but the 764s are ADS-B equipped

I've logged 20 US Mil 1 with ADB-B and those don't even include a few E-6Bs that are either overseas or on the west coast. There are three that are mis-coded that will screw up the stats.

Malc,
Regarding the article, most of which went 'over my head', does this mean that ADSB is going to be done away with in the future and replaced by this 'ethernet system'.

No the ethernet is the networking system that is now being fitted to Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Its much faster interfaces between the avionics and on the back of this faster processing allowing the ADS-B system to be incorporated. Or so I am told!

Thanks Malc. Should ADSB be discontinued, we know who to blame !
