Hi John thanks for those I'd love to visit any of the big bases across in England. I was last at Lakenheath 18 years ago, it's been far too long.

So as not to offend with e.g. the  "common place" USAF aircraft I've started this thread. And first up AE1169 USAF Beech C-12F Huron 84-0163 Duke 05. Just for anyone interested in these types.

John

John,

I think you will find that the type designation of that aircraft is C-12U-3.

Hi Tom thanks AE08F6 Argus 03 85-0152 up now is he the same i.e. C12U3?

john

John,

No. That's an RC-12K Guardrail. You'll see it listed most places as a Huron, but it has the Guardrail kit. It's from 1st MI Bn Wiesbaden.

Can anyone tell me what these German Transalls are doing round here - is there a special exercise going on?  Where are they flying from / to?

It is about this time of year that the German forces exercise on Otterburn.
I have not seen them on the roads yet, and have not been listening for then on OTA.
The C160's were around at the correct heights for paras!!! into OTA, but don't quote me on that!!!
I had one heading in towards Leuchars.... but lost him due to lunch!!!
Based in Hexham - Tyne Valley
Best view for RB is North of a line between EGNT and EGNC  - includes OTA and Spade, to EGPH above 7500ft.   Can be TRUE mobile with Mobile Broadband feed to Network.
