polar diagrams for future versions
« on: August 30, 2008, 09:25:22 AM »
This might be slightly off the wall but what about a 2D polar diagram for the future.

At the moment we can see the distance away aircraft a picked up which normally relates to the highest altitude=greatest distance. Would there be any way of includigg the altitude and distance to create a 2D polar diagram. I am not sure how it would be displayed but a cross sectional view may be one way of doing.

Just a thought.................

Hi Bob

In the dim and distant, AirNav have said that this was a possibility and is on the wish list.

Perhaps in V2.1???

We would probally prefer someone to create a bit of addon for this. The reason why is that there would be quite a CPU overhead in this to as rather than have data for every 360 degrees. You now need to have 360 degrees * 40 (if you use 1000ft)

You can already use SBSPlotter to get polar diagrams covering altitudes up to FL100, FL200, FL300, and over FL300.  It uses the port 30003 output from ANRB.  Very useful for checking your reception coverage at different altitudes.

You can get it from http://jetvision.de/sbs/sbsplotter1.zip
