Antenna array, it is possible?
« on: May 15, 2019, 06:49:18 PM »
Hello,
I need help with my antenna, it is installed halfway up a tower and it makes "shadows" as you can see in the image 1, the solution that I think would be an array with two antennas (image 2), the question is: is it possible ?, how should I connect the cables to maintain 50 ohm and gain.

How far away is the existing antenna from the tower, can it be moved out away from the tower.  Would an extension cable for the antenna help|?

The antenna is 4 feet from the tower and 50 feet high, the idea is not to add cable to avoid a greater loss of signal, my intention is to use some type of splitter or duplexer that allows me to combine two antennas.
My Max range is 374 MN.

Can you show a picture of the installation?

Thanks

For now I can not upload photos,  I'll be out for some time and I'll be back in mid-June.
For now:

On the first occasion I will take some photos to upload.

I found what could be the solution in a post of neroon79 http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=7298.msg246421#msg246421
Apparently the solution would be to install a splitter ZAPD-20-N+

You can fabricate your own splitter by using two equal lengths of 75 ohm co-ax which will then match reasonably closely to your 50 ohm feeder. The connection could just be made by hard-wiring in a die-cast box or with three suitable co-ax connectors. Velocity factor doesn't matter, just use the same physical length to each antenna.
