Hello
Just read on the news about the tornado GR4 that crashed approaching Lossiemouth tonight. Any one out there know the registration or any info on this? We had ZA595 around the time of this and wondered if it could be this or a different one without a transponder.
Thank you
Andrew

Good news that the crew ejected okay. I wasn't monitoring at the time. According the the BBC, it went down "shortly after 1700BST". I assume they mean GMT.
Only GR4 I have in my logs at the time is 43C163, ZA595. Last contact was at 17:18, at 1010ft, on a callsign of LOSSIE 19.
Some more info. from local spotters at http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27278
I wonder where the aircraft actually ended up? Some reports that it was on approach to Lossie.

FOund this quote - "It is understood the crew encountered a problem on landing the aircraft but the spokesman stressed that the plane had not crashed."
And according to http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27278&start=20#p166261
"PPRuNe say it's just on the grass half way down runway 23,apparently it's still on it's undercarriage - I suspect the crew ejected near the threshold."
