Title: Antenna Help
Post by: apjwright on September 16, 2017, 09:24:16 AM
Hi.  I'm not very good with Radio.antenna tech and need some advice.

I need to run an antenna wire about 30 feet to an antenna that will likely need to have a magnetic mount (don't think i can clamp it anywhere).

So, the questions are:
(1) what wire/connectors would i need?
(2) which antenna do i need?
(3) Where is the best place to get these items in the UK?

Thanks in advance for guidance.

Tony,

A word of caution, a magnetic mount outside will not be very good in windy weather.  If you have an attic it would probably be OK to site an antenna in there.

Google for an ADSB antenna, make sure it is capable of 1090mHZ

I would suggest Westflex for the cable.  http://whwestlake.co.uk/ Depending on your chosen antenna it would probably need N type connectors on either end and would also need a one foot pigtail lead to connect to your receiver.  N Type on one end with SMA female on the other from the same source.  Give them a call very helpful and knowledgeable.
